The Do Good Initiative

By Dan Barczak

We’ve been proud to call Cincinnati home since the day Hyperquake was first founded in 1986. The struggles and triumphs we’ve witnessed in this city are emblematic of the gritty Midwestern spirit that’s shared by every Cincinnatian. In our experience, the people who make their home here are always ready to stick by the Queen City through thick and thin.

That commitment — to our shared history and to each other — inspires us here at Hyperquake. This year, we’re so excited to support a few of those people in their mission to help their fellow Cincinnatians, in the best way we know how: by sharing our talent with a worthy local nonprofit.

We know that there are many 501(c)(3) organizations who contribute to our community daily. It can be difficult for them to identify funds to evolve their brand, and that can hold their organization back from maximizing its impact. We know better than anyone that creating a brand that truly reflects your values takes time, funds, and a lot of hard work. We want to give that opportunity to a deserving organization that wouldn’t otherwise have access to creative talent. We want to give back.

We also know that there are lots of creative people in this community who have a lot of heart for the city —many of whom we’ve had the opportunity to work with in the past. We love the idea of bringing together creatives beyond just the branding industry, in order to encourage collaboration and community involvement. We want to work with other local creatives to simplify, inspire, and do good.

The weekend of October 21-22, 2017, Hyperquake will hold a 2-day brand development event. The organization we select (based on written applications and interviews) will have the opportunity to attend the event and work with Hyperquake designers, strategists and project coordinators to develop their brand into something their stakeholders can be proud of. Depending on the chosen organization’s needs, we’ll also partner with talented locals to provide other creative services in support of the new brand. We’re looking for local freelance or agency partners who are interested in offering their services to the selected nonprofit — these services could include photography, videography, collateral printing, environmental graphics, web development, etc. Our goal is for the chosen organization to leave the event absolutely up to the gills in new brand materials that will help them serve more people and touch more hearts.

The application period for The Do Good Initiative 2017 has passed. Applications for next year will open in July 2018.
