NewCo Cincinnati 2016 is 24 hours away!

By Emily Zalla

This Thursday, some of the coolest startups, agencies, makers, corporations and organizations in town will participate in the second annual NewCo Cincinnati festival. Here at Hyperquake, we’re already getting ready to throw open our doors and welcome CEOs, students, designers, developers, and entrepreneurs of all stripes for some mutual inspiration and education.

NewCo is an international festival dedicated to celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit. Each participating company will offer a behind-the-scenes look at their space, along with a talk, panel, or workshop designed to inspire and provoke new perspectives. (The festival has some clout—the 11 other host cities this year include San Francisco, Istanbul, Barcelona, Mexico City, and New York.)

In Cincinnati, the startup scene is something to see; but organizers of the event recognize that the entrepreneurial community is comprised of companies and organizations, large and small, that support, compete, and inspire each other. NewCo offers the single best snapshot of what makes Cincinnati a nourishing ecosystem for any company to thrive. Allowing attendees to self-select the sessions that most interest them help this event feel like an all-day open house/field trip, as opposed to a traditional startup conference. And since the number of attendees and host companies has already surpassed last year’s count, there’s definitely plenty to choose from.

We wouldn’t say we’re biased, but if you’re not sure what to attend, there’s a pretty sweet session happening at 1:15 here at our studio. Our Creative Director and Director of Strategy will be dispelling some myths and stigmas about branding. We’ll have a collaborative discussion on how human insights and shared values impact what we do on a daily basis — and why you can’t fake “Why.” Some of our strategists, designers and project leaders will show you around our evolving studio, share a drink, and talk about a few projects that we’re working on that inspire us.

We’ll have a collaborative discussion on how human insights and shared values impact what we do on a daily basis — and why you can’t fake “Why.”

Of course, we’ll also be attending NewCo sessions as diverse as the Cincinnati Symphony, the Xavier Center for Innovation, the OTR Chamber, Rhinegeist and FC Cincinnati. We’re each looking forward to bringing back bits of brilliance that will inspire our daily client work. If you see any of us out in the wild, come say hey—that’s what NewCo’s about!

$20 tickets ($10 for students!) are still available for NewCo 2016. See the full schedule here, and sign up for your slots before they’re gone!
