WHAT IS YOUR POSITION HERE AT HYPERQUAKE?
I work on our awesome design team as a Senior Designer.
WHEN DID YOU START WORKING AT HYPERQUAKE?
I can’t believe it but in August I’ll have been here 3 years already!
WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND RAISED?
Born and raised in Cincinnati.
WHAT HOBBIES OR PASSIONS DO YOU HAVE?
I really enjoy going to concerts, playing guitar and collecting records. I’ve also had the opportunity over the past couple years to pick up a couple new skill sets including frame-making and screenprinting.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE BANDS, TV SHOWS, AND MOVIES?
These change pretty frequently, but an all-time fave of mine is My Morning Jacket. Some others currently in my heavy rotation are Local Natives, Ra Ra Riot, Surfer Blood and Tame Impala. My TV binge watching has dropped off as of late, but I still make sure I’m caught up with Game of Thrones. And with movies, just about every Marvel release is a must see for me…. #midnightshowing!
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO GET INTO YOUR FIELD OF WORK?
I think the first time I had graphic design explained to me was in my high school art class. My teacher (shout out to Mr. Wolter by the way, he’s the man) pointed to a Sprite can and said, someone got paid to make that… All I did was draw cartoons then so I didn’t really get it at the time — but about midway through college it clicked. A couple co-ops later and I was obsessed. I knew I wanted to get a job with a design agency.
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE CLIENTS YOU’VE WORKED WITH IN YOUR CAREER AND WHY?
I’ve found the best clients to be the ones that work with you as if you’re part of their team. The greatest projects I’ve been a part of are the collaborative efforts to build a brand or refresh an identity. I’ve been lucky enough to have a great team around me at Hyperquake with some really fun clients from all industries walking in the door.
It’s really all about the people here at Hyperquake for me and how they’ve helped shape my career.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE EXPERIENCE AT HYPERQUAKE?
Being in a work environment where everyone is incredibly motivated and passionate about their jobs is pretty incredible. I’ve learned a lot in my short time here from some very talented folks and each day I continue to grow. It’s really all about the people here at Hyperquake for me and how they’ve helped shape my career.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Well, I’ve already talked about the people here at Hyperquake; but the internet can be pretty inspiring as well. When I have the chance there’s always more than I can dig through to provoke new thoughts or ideas. Extracurricular activities like checking out speakers or attending workshops is also a big boon to my creativity.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT?
Working with our strategy team here at Hyperquake has really helped change my perspective on how I design for the client. I’d like to continue pairing my design with strong and valid strategy work while also gaining more insight into the business side of things.
